The Perfect Cut with Adrian Richardson @ JW Mariott Kuala Lumpur

I'm sure most of my faithful readers would have heard of the TV network, Asian Food Channel (AFC). AFC, is of course the region's first 24-hour food channel dedicated to airing the best food and lifestyle programming from around the region and around the world. Based in Singapore, AFC's wide Asian distribution footprint covers eight territories and 45 million viewers, on basic tiers of all the majoy pay TV platforms across Southeast Asia. This, of course, includes our very own Astro.

AFC together with American Express is bringing us a new programme which features celebrity chef, Adrian Richardson. This programme is part of the AMEX Celebrity Chef Series; a series of exciting gastronomic experiences jointly-organised by AFC and American Express. The tour is named, The Perfect Cut with Adrian Richardson, and is taking place on 1st (today) and 2nd December this year.

The first part of the tour which took place today was held at JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur. I am indeed greatly honoured to have been invited to such a prestigious event. The event featured a cooking demonstration by the celebrity chef, Adrian Richardson, himself. This was then followed with a food tasting session where the 20+ lucky people (made up of media people, representatives from distinguished magazines and also bloggers) had the opportunity to taste the delicious and exquisite dishes prepared by Adrian Richardson.

My favourites were without a doubt the Lamb and Spinach Filo Pie and the Perfect Steak, which was indeed perfect.
The Perfect Steak
A little background on Chef Richardson: He grew up with cuisine from Italy, the Middle East and North Africa, all of which were served up with vegetables and fruits grown in his family's garden. His passion for cooking and belief in "homemade and home-grown" is attributed to his upbringing from his family. His father was trained as a chef in England and France, and ran the Balzac, a legendary restaurant in East Melbourne. Coincidently, his uncles were also chefs.
He began his career working in prominent cafes, bistros, and restaurants such as Le Restaurant at The Regent Hotel under the tutelage of Dietmar Sawyer, Liam Tomlin and Russell Armstrong. He worked at the O'Connell's Hotel in Australia with Greg Malouf and Antony Worrall-Thompson in the United Kingdom.
In 1999, he opened La Luna where he currently holds the position of Head Chef. La Luna in North Carlton is considered one of Melbourne's best Mediterranean bistros and is renowed for serving up clean, fresh and innovative food. Chef Richardson not only makes his own pasta daily, he also ages the beef he serves on the bone and uses mushrooms that have been picked only hours before arriving at his restaurant. He is also a regular face on television. His hit TV programme, Secret Meat Business was recently aired on AFC between April and July 2011. His latest show, Good Chef Bad Chef, which sees him playing the devil next to co-host Janella Purcell, a nutritionist aired on AFC on 7th November.
Chef Adrian Richardson also has 2 cookbooks under his publishing belt, Meat and The Good Life, both of which are paeans to the virtues and benefits of knowing where your food comes from, as well as home cooking. Do check these books out at your nearest bookstore.
This exclusive tour, a partnership between AFC and American Express is said to not only provide its card members with extraordinary culinary experiences, but also a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet and dine with their favourite celebrite chefs.
