Our First Home-Cooked Meal in Melbourne

Clarice Saturday, May 8, 2010 , ,
My relatives bought their ticket to Melbourne more than 10months back when there was zero fare for Air Asia and when Air Asia was just introduced KL to Melbourne flight. They got it very cheap I should say as it only costed them less than RM1000 KK-KL-Melbourne-KL-KK. As for me, I only decided to join this trip and bought my ticket in Nov'09. My ticket was more than double of their price. :) Very very expensive. I arrived half day earlier than my relatives, noon of 24th March 2010.

On 25th March 2010, my primary schoolmate, Simon, who is also my aunty's cousin came to visit us at his sister Mei's house. We stayed at Mei's house for the 1st few days of our trip. Mei's house is in Point Cook while Simon's house is in Boxhill. Traveling time to each other's place is about an hour (without jam). To KK people like me, it's far as with an hour of traveling time, we could already reached Kota Belud from Kota Kinabalu city centre.

Boxhill is a more developed area and properties there are of higher value too. Whereas, Point Cook is a newly developed area and less densed than Boxhill. Nothing much of shopping in Boxhill but you could expect nicer food there.

We had chinese food for lunch at Boxhill. Roasted pork, chicken, duck and stew beef rice or noodle. Portion was very big that 1plate could feed 2persons. haha... no photos as we were too hungry though. :)

Then, we headed to the market to buy some ingredients for dinner. We were going to cook home-cooked meals. :) Anyway, no menu or idea yet what to cook. Our initial plan was just buy and think what to cook later.... :P

Sorts of chicken... (chicken in Australia are so much different from what we could find here. To me, I don't really fancy of their soft, non-elastic, kind of chicken meat) Not cheap though...

Different types or parts of PORK (we bought some pork belly and pork ribs)

Seafood (we didn't buy any, we have got better, fresher and cheaper seafood in our Land Below The Wind, SABAH!!!~~~)

My favourite Peach

I was kinda shocked to find out that apples and oranges in Australia cost us same as peaches, plums and nectarines. All are sold in weight. Weird right? Hence, I ate a lot of peaches, nectarines and plums which are expensive in Malaysia. :)

Different types of fresh vegetables and fruits. They are so fresh and so tempting that we felt like buying all of them home.

Bakery (fresh bread and cookies)

Good??? OF course.... see... everyone's smiley face.... THUMBS UP!!!!!~~~~

As what people said... "overseas moon is rounder"... we all agreed that the vegetables in Australia do taste sweeter and fresher than our local vegetables. :)
