Kailis' Fish Market Cafe @ Fremantle, Perth

Located at Waterfront Fremantle, set against a backdrop of beautiful shoreline, this rather well known restaurant serves up some of the best Fish and Chips, as proudly displayed on banners "Voted No.1 Fish and Chips" or something in that fashion.

Step inside the restaurant and few hundred customers at any one point can't be wrong, finding a table indoors can be tricky, but if you're living in a tropical climate and only visiting Perth, then its a good idea to  sit outdoors to soak in all that atmosphere, which probably include, among others, seagulls, but their pretty harmless really.

Traditional Fish and Chips AUD27.50
With our kind host Lawrence and his wife Michelle leading the way, we ordered their Traditional Fish and Chips - family Combo styled, which includes 4 big pieces of battered and deep fried, stacked atop a mountain of fresh, thick cut fries.
The fish was tender and moist, yet still maintaining a firm texture. The batter gives a crunchy sensation, and the warm fish goes well with the breezy cool climate. The chips were crunchy, firm and very filling. Black and  clear vinegar are on deck for you to dash on the fish for some added taste and aroma.

BBQ Seafood Combo AUD28.00
Next we had the BBQ Combo, which consists of Mediterranean squid, Scallops, Fish Kebab and a bowl of fresh Salad. The squid was soft and tasty, while the grill releases a certain aroma. But what we think the real winner is the scallops, the main fleshy parts were soft a little bit flaky texture and the softness almost makes the flesh melt in your mouth, the yellowish flesh (which we think its the ovary) has an aromatic texture akin to an egg yolk, and melts just as nice in the mouth.

The grilled fish kebab was sweet and fragrant, and has none of the sea smell, while the salad was packed with fresh goodness in the lettuce and tomatoes, all fresh local produce. The freshness of all the seafood was evident in its taste and texture, and its no wonder the restaurant is packed to the brim. Kailis' is definitely a place to have good seafood when visiting Perth.

We'd like to give a shoutout to Lawrence and Michelle for being such a kind and generous host.
