Night Markets in Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City

Night markets have contributed to making Ho Chi Minh City charms and the main attraction for visitors. The night market is the best place to sample Vienamese traditional cuisines that are not available in restaurant. Eating and drinking on the street is very popular in Vietnam and their night markets offer a great window into the life of the city. If there is a chance I highly recommended you to join the crowds eating on the street for an experienced that can't be matched by a hotel restaurant.

Ho Chi Minh City has many night markets, one of the most special markets is Minh Phung in District 6, which opens from 2pm to midnight. This is the world of accessories for women like jewelry, handbags, clothes and etc. Many sellers sit flat on the ground to sell piles of underwear, towels, kids wear, footwear and etc.
Ky Hoa night market which opens from 5pm to around 2am on Cao Thang road, District 10 is also one of the favorite destination for tourists. This is the largest night market in Ho Chi Minh City with over 250 stalls, selling clothes, cosmetics, jewelry, handicraft items, food and especially sale-off products. This market lures large numbers of students and young people, specialize in cheap goods to cater for them and are located out of town near universities and textile factories. The food in Ky Hoa surprisingly cheap and good, for just less than VND30,000 for a bowl of noodles or a plate of broken-rice with grilled pork and fried egg, plus a glass of sugar cane juice on the side. You will find a similar atmosphere at Binh Tay / Cho Lon, Hoa Hung and Ba Chieu night markets.
Ben Thanh Night Market - Intersection of Le Loi, Ham Nghi, Tran Hung Dao Avenues and Le Lai Street, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Business hours: 7:00pm - 12:00am
Ben Thanh market is a must visit address for tourists because it symbolize Ho Chi Minh City, with nearly 100-year history. Over half of visitors to Ben Thanh market are tourists and for the unwritten principle for shopping at Ben Thanh market is the buyer should bargain half of the price offered by the seller.
You are highly advice to taste specialty cuisines from three regions of Vietnam, start from seafood to Chinese food.

Ben Thanh Night Market - These markets are all within a 20-30 minutes walking distance from the hotel I stayed "Palace Hotel Saigon" and 10 minutes by taxi.

There are at least 20 street-side eateries around the market building with diners gathering to feast on a wide range Vietnamese delicacies. You may spot  thier most popular Bun cha or Pho a delicious noodle dishes from Hanoi, Banh Nam  which is a little steamed cakes in banana leaf from Hue, or Banh xeo crispy rice pancakes from the Mekong Delta and plenty other delicacies. You can order delicious fresh grilled seafood, or tasty BBQ meat here. The best things ever when eating at Ben Thanh is that you can watch the chef cooking in front of you, live, allowing you to enjoy the food with all your senses. The restaurants are also not exclusively tourist trap but offer authentic food and atmosphere. 60-70% Vietnamese families and friends dine here most night rather than exclusively tourists.
