Hyatt Regency Kinabalu Hosts Italian Wine Affair

Angeline Wednesday, May 22, 2013 , , , ,

Hyatt Regency Kinabalu recently hosted a decadent Italian affair of fine wines and good food featuring specialist Italian vineyard Cascina La Ghersa. This is the 3rd wine event Hyatt has hosted within a month since the opening of its wine boutique, Just Wine, in effort to promote wine and food appreciation.

To best showcase the wines, a fourth generation vineyard owner, Massimo Pastura introduces his own wine offerings, from his 22 hectare vineyard in Piedmont, Italy, dedicated to producing Barbera d'Asti wines but not neglecting other varieties.

Thong said that the hotel wanted to offer more varied and festive dining experiences through their events and hinted that they had a lot of events planned for the near future.
La Ghersa 2007 Barbera d'Asti Nizza Vignassa DOC - Full bodied purple and garnet coloring form the Barbera variety. Complex and concentrated aroma with notes of blackberry, ripe cherry, hints of tobacco, leather, licorice and spices balsamic. In the mouth it is energetic and aggressive, yet elegant and persuasive, with a development of flavor and fragrant fluid, very soft and very classy.
La Ghersa 2007 Barbera d'Asti Superiore Muascae DOC - Intense purple and burgundy, brilliant. Complex and concentrated aroma and taste, evident through intense notes of blackberry, cranberry juice, and menthol notes of juniper berries, pepper and mineral grain. The taste is complex and deep, thick and juicy but elegant and persuasive, with a development of fluid and fragrant flavor and freshness that gives balance. The finish is very long and complex, fruity and mineral with a wrap-aromatic complexity.
La Ghersa Sivoy Monferrato DOC - The Sivoy is made by assembling grapes Cortese, Chardonnay and Sauvignon grapes and is an intense straw yellow color. The nose is wide and embracing mineral notes and chamomile alongside hints of peach, tropical fruit and delicate and pleasant smoke. Full-bodied and well-balanced thanks to good acidity. Finish is elegant and complex, with good length and intensity.
La Ghersa Georgia Moscato D'Asti DOCG - This dessert wine was named after it's maker's eldest daughter, Georgia and is a pleasant and refreshing aperitif for any time of the day. Made from the Muscat Canelli white variety, it is a light yellow straw color and has a delicately intense bouquet of exotic fruit and wild flowers, citrus peel and hazelnuts. On the palate it is soft with nice fizz and finishes off with notes of dried fruit.
La Ghersa IL Poggio Gavi DOCG - From the Cortese grape variety, this grand wine is straw yellow with greenish reflection. On the nose, intense aromas of flowers and fruit and mellow with notes that recall peach, tropical fruit, lime and hawthorn. The palate is rich, full and wide, full-bodied and balanced with a lively acidity. With aging in the bottle develops mineral notes that give more and more complexity on the scent and taste.
La Ghersa Timian Colli Tortonesi Timorasso DOC - Made from the exclusive Timorasso grape, this age-worthy wine has great longevity over 10 years. Bright golden yellow in color, which intensifies over time along with its character. The nose is very complex and fascinating: in the early years of bottle are found particularly fruity scents, then green apple, white flowers, herbs, together with the characteristic notes of honey and hay. The palate is warm, elegant and welcoming, with very fresh acidity soft and harmonious. Finish is tangy and citrusy, long and persistent.
