Asian Women’s Empowerment 2014 Conference Coming To Kota Kinabalu!

The Asian Women’s Empowerment (AWE) Conference is an annual, Asia wide inspiration and motivational conference dedicated to raise awareness and promote empowerment of women in Asian communities. After the success of AWE ’13 in Kuala Lumpur (KL), the organisers decided to host AWE ’14 in Kota Kinabalu (KK). The conference will be held from 31 October to 2 November 2014 in Wisma Bandaraya. According to founder Juno Kim, AWE’s mission is to empower Asian women to think, act, and achieve. Another main goal of AWE is to encourage Asian women to follow their dreams and thrive with an independent lifestyle.

Pan Mee is a Hakka-style noodle, originating from Malaysia. Its Chinese name literally translates to "flat flour noodle". The noodle dough is made from flour and sometimes egg is added for more flavour. Traditionally, the dough is hand-kneaded and torn into smaller pieces of dough but in modern day the dough can be kneaded using machine into a variety of shapes, the most common shape being flat strips of noodle. The broth plays a very important role in the preparation of pan mee. Most broth is prepared by boiling pig bones and dried anchovies for hours in order to bring out the flavour. Pan Mee is typically served in soup, together with dried anchovies, minced pork, mushrooms, and a leafy vegetable. It can also be served dry with a thick black soya sauce.

Jibby and Co.'s name after the owner "Najib", the man behind Serai. It serves as a place for meals all day long, serving breakfast/brunch to many main courses of Eastern and Western mixes. They have an alluring menu, but it is slightly overpriced. This cafe shape a standalone greenhouse with all glass design which helps receive a natural sunlight during the day and yet equally bright at night as it's well lit inside out, located at the outdoor parking lot of Empire Shopping Gallery, the cafe interior has an Australian atmosphere with light bulbs wiring dramatically plunges along the high ceilings and cloth sofas, created a warm dining ambient. On the upper deck it has more seats with great view looking down to the whole cafe.

Show me a man who's worked 16 hours a day since 1972, and I'll show you Topolino's restaurant. I honestly can't pull a nine to five without spending 6 hours on facebook in the office, but hey, that's why my lazy ass doesn't have a fine Italian restaurant that is rated at least 4 stars by all online polls. This humble looking restaurant opens 4pm till late on Mon to Wed and 12pm till very very late on Thurs to Sun.

Hao Hao Steamboat Restaurant serves fresh seafood ingredients that are sourced from Pulau Ketam. Some of the dishes are homemade and choose clear soup or tom yam soup or both for your steamboat. Their Steamboat Set consists of fish ball, fish noodle, fish fillet, fish roll, vegetable roll, meat ball, meat roll, dumpling, quail egg, yam, Fried Tofu, Seafood Tofu, White Tofu, Dried Tofu. Their quality fresh together with a fair pricing make it a value for money meal  and their customer service are efficient, the owners of the restaurant are usually present at the restaurant premises, personally attending to the needs of their customers.

Hunan is a province of the People’s Republic of China near the Xiang river region, thus Hunan cuisine also being known as Xiang cuisine. Hunan Cuisine uses a lot of Chilli Pepper, Shallots and Garlic while as Sichuan cuisine uses "Mala", the numbing effect and the dishes. Hunan Cuisine are drier spicier compared to Sichuan Cuisine which uses more complex flavour combinations. In Kuchai Lama, Restaurant De Hunan serves fresh aromatic, deep bright red pepper colour, piquant and peppery authentic Hunan cuisines.

Kedai Kopi Kam Kee is a restaurant frequented by locals around the neighbourhood. Apart from its signature Hokkien Mee, the restaurant also well-known for its affordable price and varieties of dishes. The taste of their Hokkien Noodle was unforgettably delicious. Whether is just a plate of Fried Hokkien Mee or a few dishes with rice, Kedai Kopi Kam Kee always maintained its quality tastes of the food.

Pan Mee at Lido is one of the best I can find in KK, so far. Being my personal favourite, you will find me visiting this particular kopitiam at least once in a month. Known as Kedai Kopi (Pan Mien) Lido, the stall open as early as in the morning catering to market goers till late night.
