LE MERIDIEN KUALA LUMPUR JOINS FORCES WITH GLENEAGLES FOR CHILDREN IN NEED

In partnership with Gleneagles Hospital, Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur is initiating a fund raising drive for the hospital’s ‘A heart for a heart’ charity programme. Its mission is to financially support children born with congenital heart defects. Founded in 1996, ‘A heart for a heart’ charity programme was set up by Gleneagles Hospital to help children with critical congenital heart defects, who need urgent financial aid due to limited financial means, undergo corrective surgery at the Gleneagles Cardiac centre. This also enables children in critical condition from being on the waiting list.

“As part of Starwood’s organizational culture, Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur has always strived to engage with the community. With 9 years of continued success, we hope to share part of our success with a meaningful cause, and children are our core focus as they represent our future. The time-honoured tradition of bear-giving provides a sense of security and cuddly companionship that still holds dear among children. Proceeds from our Christmas Bear sale will be channeled to ‘A heart for a heart’ charity programme with Gleneagles”, says Harvey Thompson, General Manager of Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur.

Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur will be selling limited collection Christmas Bears at a minimum of RM 50 per bear to help raise funds for the charity programme. The bears can be purchased as a present for a loved one or donated to a child in need from the charity programme. Alternatively, choose a name from our ‘Christmas Wishing Tree’ located at the hotel lobby to buy a Christmas present for one or more children. All payments and presents can be directed to the front desk of Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur.

“Every year, 10 out of 1000 babies born suffer from congenital heart defects and we are very fortunate to have organisations in the past to assist these children. This year, we look forward to working with Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur and that together, more hearts can be healed and hope is restored to families where children with these defects can be assured of a better future”, says Samiha Abdul Aziz, Community Service Manager of Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur.

On Saturday, 7 December 2013, Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur will be inviting 20 children from the ‘A heart for a heart’ charity programme to enjoy a decadent Christmas Brunch where fun activities are lined up for them to enjoy.
