Angel Champagne @ The Imaginarium

Great Love Affairs Start With Champagne. One the eve of Valentine’s Day, Everyday Food I Love was invited over to the Imaginarium, one of the latest speakeasy bars to grace the jazz scene in Kuala Lumpur. There we were given a treat, wine tasting in the form of glasses of Angel Champagne, accompanied with platters of fresh oysters and gourmet chocolates.

During the evening, we were given a short presentation on Angel Champagne along with some fun facts. Lovers of this vino will be delighted to learn that it will be making its way here into Asia soon, beginning with Singapore sometime in the first quarter of this year.

“Live Freely. Enjoy Angel Responsibly.”
Angel Champagne is a sparkling wine that benefits from a process called Secondary Fermentation, where the wine is first aged in barrels and then subsequently, a second time in bottles to introduce Carbonation. This results in the wine having Effervescence, where hundreds of tiny bubbles continuously floats to the top surface of the drink after being poured out from the bottle into a glass. Literally millions of bubbles are packed within each champagne bottle. This is why champagne drinkers often refer to it fondly as Bubbly or Fizz, due to the effect of the bubbles.
DID YOU KNOW? Stefano Zagni is the founder of Angel Champagne. Champagne is long associated with celebrities the world over and their extravagant consumption of this expensive wine. For instance, Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe used to bathe in champagne to keep her looking young and beautiful. Today, Mariah Carey is the official ambassador for Angel Champagne in the United States of America.

Like all other bubblies, Angel Champagne is a cuvée of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The brand is highly regarded, being officially endorsed by the Comité Interprofessionel du Vin de Champagne, a body that safeguards the sanctity of authentic Champagnes. The bottles themselves are exquisite and elegant, and when they were presented to us, it came in a handsome padded case to better protect the precious wines within.
Angel Champagne offers three types of Champagne; Luxury Champagne Brut, Luxury Champagne Brut Rosé and Luxury Champagne Brut vintage. Each has its own distinct qualities, for us at the Imaginarium that night, we were given the opportunity to taste the Luxury Champagne Brut. The non-vintage had a nice floral aroma, with notes of apple, pear and minerals that lingers on the finish. According to Wine-Searcher, the average price for this particular bottle was about USD430 excluding taxes back in February 2015, but at the beginning of this year it has now available at a more affordable price of USD250 on average. A glass of Champagne goes very well with Shellfish, Crabs and Lobsters.
After the champagne session ended, there was still white wine and pasta to indulge in, so we stayed on and enjoyed a live jazz performance which is the main feature of the Imaginarium. We definitely had a good time, thank you for having us! ~ Marv.7
