Ah Ge (阿給) at TAMSUI, TAIPEI



Tamsui is a smaller city to the north of Taipei which is tourist attraction in Taipei and boasts many historical attractions, and is a popular location for delicious food and viewing the sunset. The famous Tamsui Old Street is filled with local food such as Agei (Ah Ge), Iron eggs (tie dan) and fish crackers, and unique stores or folk arts shops selling old school snacks and handmade products.The dock is a good place for marvelous sunset viewing and tourists are also encouraged to take the ferry boats at Tamsui Wharf to enjoy a breezy journey and take in a panoramic view of Tamsui River.

Must try Agei or Ah Ge (阿給) - A local specialty unique to Tamsui. The name Ah Ge was translated from its Japanese name Aburage. It is a fried beancurd with vermicelli noodles (mung bean noodles/tang hoon) filling, served with a sweet and hot sauce.

Rent a bike at Tamsui and cycling around, price start from NT$60 per hour. Tamsui is a smaller city to the north of Taipei that was the center of shipping and commerce in northern Taiwan in the 19th century. The city is still popular with visitors from Taipei and boasts many historical attractions, and is a popular location for viewing the sunset. One can enjoy the old streets, the cool breeze, the flower/trees planted by residents and the sense of relaxation. Walking on the old streets along the riverbank, visitors may view the old buildings and may try the tasty local dishes, such as fish dumplings, Agei (fried meat pastry) and hard eggs, etc. The dock is a good place for marvelous sunset viewing. Visitors can also take the boat ride.
