People been telling me about this hot spot serve the best Fish Head Mee Hoon and the best Claypot Loh Shue Fun in KL. A friend from the gym told me where this place located. You won’t miss Goon Wah Restaurant is right smack in the middle flanked by workshops on both sides. Plastic chairs and tables are set up all along the walkway.
Winter Melon Longan Dessert, RM1.80
Signature dish: XO Fish Head Mee Hoon (S), RM11.00
Ingredients found: salted vegetables, onion stalks, slices of tomatoes, ginger, yam and chunks of fish head. The cloudy looking soup might be result from the yam and fish was very flavourful, I found myself finishing the soup and noodles to the very last drop. And the noodle was thick white noodle with soft, yet not mushy, with a nice bite to it, and its texture a cross between asam laksa noodles and marshmallows.
Stir-fried Sang Cheong (S) "Pork intestines and Stomach", RM13.00
The smell of the intestines and stomach were masked by a generous amount of garlic, red chillies and dried shrimps, while still retaining the crunchiness. I love this dish.
Total paid for lunch, RM24.80
Some others Signature Dishes: Looking at what's on the other table, Claypot Loh Shue Fun (direct translation "Rat Tail Noodles') served with minced pork and egg, not oily at all and it was delicious. Kau Yoke (pork) with yam, sinful dish, with layers of fat and meat cooked in dark soy sauce, eat together with the steamed mantou.
Not to worry, you'll know what to order...
